Meet 13 yr old Alina Morse, the Lollipop Girl and the Founder of Zollipops
Alina Morse is just 13 yrs old and is the founder of Zollipops, a business founded in 2014, that’s moved $2 million worth of lollipops which are actually good for your teeth. Like any busy CEO, her days are filled with phone calls, emails, handing out instructions to her staff and scanning over profit-and-loss statements.
When Alina Morse was 7 years old, she went to the bank with her dad and the teller offered her a lollipop. While she really wanted to accept, her parents always told her that candy was terrible for her teeth. So she asked her dad, “Why can’t we make a lollipop that’s actually good for your teeth?” And in that moment the idea for Zollipops was born!
From then, there was no looking back for Alina. She set up her own confectionery by investing $7,500 as savings from her grandparents. Today, 10,000 stores across America including Walmart stock Zollipops. Alina said that these retailers have collectively sold $5 million worth of her products.
First year sales, in 2014, were $70,000. By the end of 2015, Alina had sold her millionth Zollipop and sales hit $300,000. Growth continues at a pace above 300% and is projected to surpass $1 million by 2018. “In the past three years we have doubled our sales, and this year we are set to triple our sales for 2018” says Alina.
Alina is meeting these targets by expanding the product sales to China, Korea, Australia, and France.
In addition, Zollipops are sold online. It’s second best-selling lollipop on Amazon, despite also being the most expensive; bags of 25 retail for $5.99. “Parents will spend money to give their kids a healthy option,” says Tom Morse, father of Amina Morse.
Asked what she’s learned so far from her venture, Alina Morse says that a motivated kid with a good idea “can make things happen.”
